Subject: Implementation of the recommendations of the Fifth Punjab Pay Commission – Payment of Arrears of Pension/family Pension/extra ordinary pension.

Sir/Madam,

In continuation of Punjab Government Letter No. 3/23/09-3FPPC/1244, dated 12.10.2010 on the subject cited above, I am directed to say that that the Governor of Punjab is pleased to decide further that the entire arrear amount of revised pension as per recommendations of the 5th Punjab Pay Commission for pension/family pension/extra ordinary pension admissible to the pensioners who are of the age of 75 years or above as on 1-1-2006 shall become payable in cash in lump-sum in July, 2011.

Punjab Govt clarification regarding grant of family Pension after 5PPC

Subject: Implementation of the recommendations of the Fifth Punjab Pay Commission – clarification regarding grant of family Pension.

Sir/Madam,

I am directed to invite a reference to Punjab Government Letter No.  3/23/09-3FPPC/879, dated 17.8.2009 and to say that it was laid down in para 5.1 thereof that the family pension shall continue to be calculated at the existing rates subject to the minimum of Rs. 2500/- per month. Subsequently, enhanced rates of family pension in respect of employees who die in harness were issued vide letter No. 3/39/09-3FPPC/1513, dated 21.12.2009. Now, a clarification has been sought from the Department of Finance regarding the rates of ordinary family pension admissible to the eligible family member of the deceased pensioners.

2. The matter has been examined and keeping in view the provisions contained in para 4.2 of Punjab Government letter No.  1/7/98-1FP3/8709, dated 16.7.1998 and the recommendations of the Fifth Punjab Pay Commission, it is clarified that the rates of ordinary family pension admissible to the eligible family members  of the deceased pensioners with effect from 1.1..2006 are as under:

Pay in the Revised Pay Structure/  Rate of Family pension per mensem                                             
Pay up to Rs. 10,000              40% of pay subject to a minimum of Rs.3500.                                                       
Pay above Rs. 10,000              40% of pay subject to a minimum of Rs. 4000

Punjab releases 6 percent DA w.e.f. 01.01.2011


Punjab Government has released 6% Additional Dearness Allowance (ADA) installment with effect from January 01, 2011 on the Central pattern to its employees and pensioners. According to a notification issued by the Punjab Government here Wednesday, with this decision present 45 percent dearness allowance would be increased to 51 percent on the basic pay w.e.f.1.1.2011
The government has also decided to pay the increased DA in cash w.e.f. 1.5.2011 whereas the arrears w.e.f.1.1.2011 to 30.4.2011 would be credited to their GPF Accounts. Retired Employees of Punjab Government would get the same in cash w.e.f. 01.01.2011.
